Wayne Gantt - Owner, Funeral Director

Wayne Gantt

A native of Greenwood, Wayne is the son of the late Paul and Macy Mabry Gantt, who were also Greenwood natives. He is a graduate of Greenwood High School and Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He and his wife of forty-seven years, Judy West Gantt, reside in Forest Hills. They have two sons, Larry and Steve who also serve in the family business. 

Wayne became affiliated with Blyth Funeral Home in 1962 while still in high school. After returning from college he resumed his employment with the funeral home and in 1971 became co-owner of the firm. He became sole owner of the funeral home in 1986 and continues to serve as president.

Wayne and Judy are members of Greenwood First Baptist Church.

Steve Gantt - Funeral Director, Preneed Counselor

Steve Gantt

Steve is a native of Greenwood and a graduate of Greenwood High School, the University of South Carolina and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He is married to Stacey W. Gantt, who is employed with Lander University. They have two sons, Brooks and Andrew.

A member of Greenwood First Baptist Church, he is also a member of Greenwood Sertoma Club and is Past Chairman of the South Carolina Funeral Director's Association, Piedmont Group.  

 

Clif Thomas, CFSP - Funeral Director, Preneed Counselor 

Clif Thomas

Clif is a native of Whitmire and is married to Brandi Steen Thomas, RN, BSN, IBCLC, RLC.  She is Nurse Manager for Women's and Children's Services and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with Self Regional Medical Center in the Women's Center. They have three boys, Jackson, Tyler and Cooper.

A 1996 graduate of Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service, Clif is a licensed funeral director and embalmer and a former manager of several Atlanta area funeral homes. He is a licensed preneed counselor and serves as manager of Blyth Crematory. In 2009 he earned the designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP), the highest professional designation in the funeral industry. He is a Deputy Coroner for Greenwood County and has been a part of the Blyth family since 2005.  

A mason and shriner, he is a member of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce and CYP where he is a former at large board member. A 2009 graduate of Leadership Greenwood,Clif is proud to serve as a board member for the Hall of Hero's, Inc., honoring veterans of Greenwood County.

He and his family are members of North Side Baptist Church.

 

Susan Barker - Funeral Director, Director of Advance Planning 

Susan Barker

Susan Herlong "Susie" Barker is a native of Greenwood and is married to Larry Barker who is employed with Lander University as an Energy Manager. They have a son, Brandon Barker.

Susie is a 1977 graduate of Greenwood High School and a 1979 graduate of Piedmont Technical College, earning her Associate Degree in Public Service. She is a licensed funeral director, a Certified Pre-need Counselor and licensed pre-need insurance agent. Susie has been employed with Blyth Funeral Home since 1999.  

A member of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, she is also a volunteer with the Guardian ad Litem Program in Greenwood. 

Susie and her family are members of St. Mark United Methodist Church.

 

Earl Carroll - Funeral Director 

 

Earl Carroll

A native of Greenwood, Earl is married to Lisa Stackhouse Carroll. They have a daughter, Lauren Ashley Carroll.

A graduate of Greenwood High School and Piedmont Technical College, he also attended the University of South Carolina at Columbia and Lander University. He has served on the staff of Blyth Funeral Home since 1990, and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer.

An active member of South Main Street Baptist Church and the Chancel Choir of the church, Earl is also a communicant of the Church of the Resurrection, Episcopal in Greenwood and is a member and past-president of the Greenwood Lions Club. He is also a member of the Eureka Masonic Lodge #47, A.F.M. in Ninety Six, and is a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple. He is also a member of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce and is active in community affairs and works for the betterment of Greenwood and all the Lakelands area. Earl is also an avid golfer and amateur artist. He currently enjoys portrait painting and landscapes and is continuously searching for ways to express the beauty of our country and people through art, and through offering his knowledge and expertise in the funeral service industry.

 

Bryan Conyers - Funeral Director 

Brian Conyers

A Greenwood native, Bryan recently married Brittaney Hughes Conyers who is a Behavioral Modification Worker with Clear Vision Community Services.  A graduate of Greenwood High School and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, Bryan served as President of the Honorary Mortuary Fraternity and was voted by the students to receive the Daniel E. Buchanan Award which is given to the student who is most active and represents the best qualities needed to be in the funeral service industry. He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer.

He is active in the Thursday Night Men's Bowling League and the Church Softball League.  He is a member of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce. 

A member of Oasis Church Bryan also attends New Market Baptist Church.

 

Judy Gantt - Funeral Service Associate

Judy Gantt

A native of Greenwood, Judy is the daughter of the late John Harold and Bernice Higginbotham West. She is a graduate of Greenwood High School and was formerly employed with Lander University where she served as Book Store Manager. She and her husband Wayne have two sons Larry and Steve.

Judy is affectionately known as Ju-Ju to her three grandchildren Gracen, Brooks and Andrew, with whom she enjoys spending most of her time.

 

Hannah Gantt - Funeral Service Associate

Hannah Gantt

A native of Ninety Six, Hannah is a daughter of Jane and Gary Roper. She is a graduate of Ninety Six High School and attended Anderson University, where she majored in graphic design. She has one daughter Gracen who will graduate Cambridge Academy in 2014.

A member of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, she serves on the Women’s Leadership Council. She is a member of the Greenwood Woman’s Club where she serves as a board member.  Hannah also serves as Museum Board Chair and an Executive Board Member of the Greenwood Museum and Historical Railroad Center.  She was instrumental in bringing "Polar Express" to children in Greenwood.  A member of People to People-Greenwood Chapter, Hannah will serve as Co-Chair of the 2014 Festival of Flowers Luncheon.  She formerly served on the Board of Visitors at Wesley Commons.  

A member of First Baptist Church Hannah has served as a Sunday School teacher to preschool children for over twenty years, serves in numerous capacities and on several various committees.

 

Pope Long - Funeral Director

Pope Long

Pope is a native of Saluda and is a son of the late Mott and Mary Lou Force Long. A graduate of Saluda High School he is a 1969 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He and his wife Shelby of fifty years live at Milford Manor. Shelby retired as a Registered Nurse from Anderson Medical Center and Pope officially retired in 2011 after fifty years of service to the funeral industry. He was honored as South Carolina Piedmont Group Funeral Director of the Year in 2008. He still serves as a part-time member of the Blyth Funeral Home staff.

He and Shelby have one daughter Angie Bishop and husband Brian and one granddaughter Madison.

Pope is a member of First Baptist Church.

Jimmy Gable - Funeral Assistant 

Jimmy Gable

A native of McCormick, Jimmy is the son of the late Sherriff James Press Gable and Annie Lee Collins Gable . He and his wife Jane live in the Nation area of Abbeville County. Jimmy has two children Jim and Tacey; two step-children, Tyler and Codi; and three grandchildren.

Jimmy has been with Blyth Funeral Home for twenty- three years. He enjoys getting by the Dixie Drive In and the Huddle House as often as possible to meet the “boys” for a cup of coffee.

Mary Ann Smith - Funeral Assistant

Mary Ann is a native and current resident of Ninety Six. In 1989 she opened Mary Ann Smith Insurance Agency, Inc. – Nationwide Insurance, serving Greenwood and surrounding counties. She retired in December 2012 after 32 years in the business.

She is a member of Siloam Baptist Church where she serves on the Personnel Committee. Mary Ann is an active member and board member of the Ninety Six Lions Club and she serves as a volunteer for the Greenwood Arts Council at the Arts Center. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Palmetto Bank.

Since retiring, Mary Ann has enjoyed serving as a funeral assistant at Blyth Funeral Home. With all she is involved in, Mary Ann still enjoys traveling and spending time with her sons and grandchildren.

Sam Riley - Funeral Assistant

Samuel P. "Sam" Riley is a native of Ware Shoals and graduate of Ware Shoals High School and Piedmont Technical College. Sam is retired from the Greenwood County Sherriff's Office after over thirty years of service, where he served sixteen of those years as Sherriff of Greenwood County.

Sam and his wife, Sybil are members of Harris United Methodist Church and enjoy spending as much time as they can with their grandchildren. Sam also enjoys cattle farming and working in the community. He is especially honored to serve families through Blyth Funeral Home.

Gerald Rauton - Funeral Director

Gerald Rauton is a native of Greenwood and a graduate of Greenwood High School. He earned an Associate's Degree in Business Management from Palmer College in Columbia and is a US Air Force Veteran having served from 1965-1968 during the Vietnam Conflict.

A Licensed Funeral Director, Gerald worked with Blyth Funeral Home 1968-1980 and later retired from Carolina Pride Foods after thirty years of service in the Shipping and Traffic Departments in supervision. He came back to Blyth after retiring and is honored to assist families at a most difficult time in their lives.

Gerald and his wife, Clydie are members of First Presbyterian Church, where he is as a member of the Brotherhood Sunday School Class. He has served as Deacon and Usher of the church. Gerald is a former member of the Greenwood Lions Club, where he is Past President (1982) and was Lion of the Year (1982).

He and Clydie have one daughter, Michelle Rauton, who is a Special Education Teacher for Greenwood School District #50. Gerald is always busy helping many friends with lawn care and tending his garden. In his spare time, he enjoys boating and relaxing at Lake Greenwood.

David Frady - Funeral Assistant

David grew up in Greenwood and was a 1961 graduate of Greenwood High School. He is a US Army Veteran having served from 1960-1968. David worked for forty-three years with Winn-Dixie Food Stores, traveling the Southeast setting up and managing many stores. He served in numerous capacities with Winn-Dixie, retiring as a District Manager. After retiring David was District Manager with Dollar General Stores for three years and Dollar Tree for two years. When he finally stopped traveling, David came to work with Blyth Funeral Home in 2008 where he serves every family with great compassion.

David and his wife of fifty years, Brenda are members of Cokesbury United Methodist Church, where he has served and continues to serve on numerous committees and in various positions of the church. He and Brenda have one daughter, Lori Katonak, who owns and operates a pet grooming business in Orlando, FL.

In his spare time, David enjoys reading and spending time with his wife Brenda.

Rev. Jonathan Payne - Funeral Assistant

Rev. Jonathan Payne is a graduate of Whitmire High School and Southern Wesleyan University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree. He has served as a minister for forty-three years and is currently serving as pastor of Panola United Methodist Church. He retired from Greenwood School District 50 after eleven years of service and previously enjoyed radio broadcasting for four years.

Jonathon and his wife Mary, who is also retired from Greenwood School District 50, have two children, Natalie Cloninger and husband, Franklin and David Payne and wife, Lisa; and one grandchild, Audre.

An avid reader, Jonathon and his family enjoy camping as often as their schedule allows.

Jim Hull - Funeral Assistant

Lt. Col. (Ret.) Jim Hull is a graduate of Clemson University, where he earned both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree. He was formerly employed with J.P. Stevens Company for four years and retired in 1992 from the State of South Carolina as Special Schools Manager for the State Board of Technical Education, working on the campus of Piedmont Technical College for thirty-five years. He is a US Army Veteran, serving in the South Carolina Army National Guard and retired after thirty years service as Lieutenant Colonel.

Jim and his wife of fifty-one years, Louise are members of South Main Street Baptist Church, where he is a member of the Richard Carter Sunday School Class. Jim has served as deacon, has served on the Property, Personnel and Lord's Supper Committees, and in many other various positions of the church.

He is a member of the American Legion Post #20, where he is Past Commander and has served in other various offices. He is a member and Past President of the Star Fort Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America and has also served in other various offices for the group. Jim serves as Chairman of the Greenwood County Transportation Committee.

An avid Clemson Football supporter, Jim enjoys playing golf, traveling, gardening and spending time with his family.

He and Louise have three children, Jim Hull, Jr., Pam H. Jones and John Hull; and six grandsons, with whom Jim loves to spend time with.

Ross Cody - Funeral Director, Preneed Counselor

Ross and his wife of 2 years, Valerie are natives of Northwest Iowa. They spent a couple of years in Charlotte, NC before Ross joined the Blyth family in the spring of 2014.

A 2008 graduate of Worsham College in Chicago, Ross is a licensed funeral director, embalmer and preneed counselor. His focus will be working with families and individuals who want to pre-arrange their funeral service.

In his free time, Ross enjoys golf, traveling and meeting new people.
