Obituary for Avery Linthicum Shaw

Avery Linthicum Shaw, 90, resident of 115 Hailey Ct., widow of Rev. Silas Benjamin Tillman “S.T.” Shaw, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born September 25, 1927, in High Point, NC, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Avery Linthicum and Jettie Mae Nance Linthicum. She was a graduate of Highpoint Schools and a graduate of Columbia Bible College. She was retired from the Index-Journal after more than 45 years of service.

Mrs. Shaw was a member of North Side Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Gloria Scioville of Greenwood; two sons, Joel Shaw of Greenwood and Benjamin Shaw of Tampa, FL; seven grandchildren, Todd Ulmer, Chad Ulmer, Benjamin Shaw, Avery Shaw, Joshua Joel Shaw, Avery Nicole Shaw and Emilie Shaw; nine great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased in addition to her husband and parents, by a son, Jerry Shaw, a sister, Dorothy Cook and a brother, Bill Linthicum.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at Oakbrook Memorial Park with Dr. Jeff Lethco officiating.

The family is at the home on Hailey Ct. and will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
