Obituary for Charles "Chuck" Stokes O'Quinn

Charles Stokes “Chuck” O’Quinn, 84, resident of Old Abbeville Hwy, husband of Louise Reed O’Quinn, died peacefully Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at his home.

Born in Colleton County, South Carolina, October 22, 1933, he was a son of the late Hal and Myrtie Ramsey O’Quinn. He was a graduate of Hendersonville High School and was a US Army Korean War Veteran. After completing his military service he attended Southern Business University in Atlanta GA.

Chuck was employed with CSX Railroad until his retirement in 1994 after 35 years of service. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Abbeville where he chaired many committees and loved serving both as custodian and groundskeeper.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 61 years are, a son, Michael Charles O’Quinn of Chapin; a daughter, Sandra O’Quinn Segars and husband Jeff of Piedmont; two grandchildren, Sarah Kendall O’Quinn of Greenwood and Jeffrey Reed Segars of Columbia; one great-grandchild Daniel O’ Quinn; two nieces, Monica Hooi and Angela Adams. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Jack Trowell O’Quinn (Anna) and a sister, Nell O’Quinn.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 25th from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Cobb officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Segars, Jeff Dysart, Jimmy Dysart, Wayne Sartin, Norman Giradin and Mike Coursey.

The family is at the home, 1223 Old Abbeville Hwy, and will receive friends Sunday at Blyth Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.

The family would like to thank our compassionate caregivers who have cared for both Chuck and Louise for over five years. We would also like to thank the Health Related Personnel and Caris Healthcare for their support as well.
