Obituary for David Freddie McCary

David Freddie McCary, 75, husband of Brenda Hastings McCary, of Ninety Six, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Richland County South Carolina, July 20, 1942, he was the son of the late James J. and Annie Pearl Adams McCary. After completing his education, Mr. McCary became an employee of Greenwood Mills where he retired after more than 40 years of service. He was a proud member of the Greenwood Mills Quarter Century Club.

Mr. McCary attended Faith Temple Congregational Holiness Church in Saluda for more than 50 years and was heavily involved in the building of the church in 1963. He was currently attending Saluda First Pentecostal Holiness Church and was very involved in mission work.

Surviving in addition of his loving wife of 55 years are, a daughter, Angela (Darrell) Dunning of Ninety Six; two sons, Jai (Teresa) McCary of Ninety Six and Travis (Nicole) McCary of Greenwood; eight grandchildren, Tara Smith, Heather Harvley, Amanda McCary, Dusty Allen, Frances Moore, Bo McCary, Grace McCary and April McCary; one step-grandson Jonathan Dunning; thirteen great grandchildren, Kadence Harvley, Aiden Harvley, Jackson Rhodes, Ashland Harvley, Chloe Moore, Arya Moore, Brelynne Moore, Jameson Dunning, Lochlan Dunning, Whitman Dunning, Skylar Gamble, Cameron Gamble and Destiny Gamble; three half-sisters, Jenny Wise, Charlotte Haitt and Charlene Haitt all of Bamburg; two half-brothers, Danny Haitt of Bamburg and Mitch Haitt of Virginia.

Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 PM from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Louie Murray and Mr. Dusty Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Mayson Memorial Cemetery of Good Hope Baptist Church in Saluda.

Pallbearers will be Jai McCary, Travis McCary, Sammy Harvley, Bo McCary, Dusty Allen, Bubba Dorn, Brian Barden, Ben Rhodes, and Junior Pallbearers Aiden Harvley and Jackson Rhodes.

Honorary Escorts will be Payne Whatley, Dr. Clayton Hearn, Dr. Joshua Black, Dr. Grant Woodfin, Tobie Minor, Willie Barden, Yurgen Harter and Members of the Adult Sunday School Class of First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

The family will be at the home 307 Pheasant Road, Ninety Six and will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made to Saluda First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 338 Greenwood Hwy, Saluda, SC 29138.
