Obituary for Donald A. Kern

DON KERN

Donald A. “Don” Kern, 87, resident of Reedy Cove Place, husband of Sandra F. Kern, died Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Hospice House.

Born in Detroit, MI, October 31, 1930, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Josephine Rein Kern. Don was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and a graduate of Wayne State University. He was a retired Systems Manager with Delta Airlines in Atlanta, GA and has made his home in Greenwood and the Stoney Point Community since 1998. He was also a member of The Church of the Resurrection Episcopal.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Donald Kern and wife Gretchen of Lewisville, TX and a daughter, Diane Baumgartner and husband Rudy of Sudbury, MA; four grandchildren, Alexandra Kern, Erin, Tea and Cadyn Baumgartner and a step-daughter, Carmen Kinney and husband Patrick of Greenwood.

Don was twice married, first to the late Bobbie Kern.

Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday in Oakbrook Memorial Park with The Rev. Nicholas Beasley officiating.

The family is at the home in Stoney Point.
