Obituary for Dorothy "Dot" Earnshaw Parks

Dorothy “Dot” Earnshaw Parks, 91, widow of Frank Beckman Parks, of Sheffield Road, died peacefully Thursday, October 5, 2017 at her residence.
Born in Bradenton, FL May 30, 1926 to the late Clifford and Elinor Nixon Earnshaw, Dot was a dedicated kindergarten teacher, a passionate Belk Bridal Registrar, and a surrogate mother to many. She was a longtime resident of Greenwood.
She was a faithful and dedicated member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her children, Judie P. Braxton of Greenwood, Dr. Stephen E. Parks and wife Miriam of Greer, Janet P. Perry and husband Reid of Hilton Head Island; her grandchildren, Catherine Morgan (Marvin), Leslie Lance (Jonathon), Lauren Parks (Chris Marshall), Lyle Parks (Ashley), Beckman Perry (Tom Apsey), and Chas Perry; 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister Mary Louise Lackey.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 7th from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the home located at 109 Sheffield Road.
The family wishes to make a heartfelt thank you to Caris Hospice Care, and special friends Nita, Bridgett, and Lynda who enabled their mother to stay in her beloved home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dot’s memory may be made to Caris Hospice Care, 446 East Cambridge Ave. Greenwood, SC 29646.
