Obituary for George Tillman "Tim" Ethridge

George Tillman “Tim” Ethridge, 80, husband of Jo Marie Hook Ethridge, died Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Hospice House.

Born in Greenwood, November 28, 1937, he was a son of the late James Robert and Sara Rushton Ethridge. Mr. Ethridge was a South Carolina Army National Guard Veteran, a 1960 graduate of Lander College and former owner and operator of Ethridge Monument Co. in Greenwood.

Mr. Ethridge was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and the Charles Poore Sunday School Class.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are three daughters, Amy Ethridge of Mt. Pleasant, Julie Ethridge Shaughnessy and husband Scott and Leah Ethridge and husband Britt, all of Greenville; five grandchildren, Joseph, Nathan and Ben Shaughnessy and Riley and Jackson Martin; one sister, Lois Eakin and husband Clifton of Greenwood.

Services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Brown, Dr. Dan Smyth and Rev. John Elmore officiating. Private burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.

Honorary Escort will be members of the Charles Poore Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 to 3:00 Wednesday afternoon.
