Obituary for George Warren West, III

George Warren West, III, 70, husband of Nancy Spears West, died Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont Hospice House.

Born in Chattanooga, TN, June 24, 1947, he was a son of the late George W. Jr. and Frances L. Brown West. He was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and North Greenville College. George received his B.S. degree in accounting from Mars Hill College and retired as a Cost Accountant with Eaton Corp. after thirty-five years of service. He was a US Air Force Veteran.

A member of North Side Baptist Church, he was also a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class, the Eddie Lloyd D Group and the Horace Daniel D Group. George was also a member of Gideons International.

George lived his life to the fullest, in all ways seeking to honor His Lord first and foremost. His earthly tasks as a husband, father, and Papa were roles that he treasured. He lived a life serving His Lord through faith, his family, his friends, his church and even on the tennis court.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two daughters, Kimberly (Brian) Bailey of Simpsonville and Jane (Brad) Hicks of Demorest, GA; a sister, Katherine (Rick) Fulmer of Fair Play; eight grandchildren, Gray Bailey, Lauren Shults, Caroline Shults, Parker Shults, Elliott Shults, Kate Hicks, Talon Hicks and Tyson Hicks.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday at North Side Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Lethco officiating. The burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Willie Jeffreys, Bill Garvin, Tony Dover, Horace Daniel, Jim Harlow, Russ Myrick, Bob Bowers and Dean Davis.

The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 10 AM Thursday.
The family is at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 Wednesday evening.
