Obituary for James Marion "Mud Hole" Setzler

James Marion “Mud Hole” Setzler, 86, resident of 72 Sims Street, former resident of Hwy 72 East, widower of Frances Louise Smith Setzler, passed away May 1, 2018, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born April 7, 1932, in Whitmire, he was the son of the late Marion H. “Cap” and Ada Trammel Setzler. He was a former member of the South Carolina National Guard and was retired from Cone Mills after 22 years of service. He was previously employed with J.P. Stevens for 20 years.

Mr. Setzler was a member of Heritage Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Frances Marion Hart and husband Timothy, with whom he made his home; step sons, Bobby Bostic and wife Mary Ann of York and Eddie Bostic and wife Pat of Clinton; ten grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; his girlfriend, Joyce Baker of Whitmire; and his devoted four legged friend LEGS.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 pm Friday at the Heritage Wesleyan Church with Rev. Mark Stevenson and Rev. Todd Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Whitmire Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family is at the home of Marion and Timothy Hart, 72 Sims Street, Whitmire and will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2:30 Friday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heritage Wesleyan Church, 191 Broom Street, Whitmire, SC 29178.
