Obituary for Joseph Clifford "Cliff" Fagan, Jr

Joseph Clifford “Cliff” Fagan, Jr, 91, resident of 105 Greenbriar Road, husband of Rose Fagan, died Friday, November 10, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Polk County, North Carolina, December 24, 1925, he was the son of the late Joseph Clifford Fagan and Ethel Irene Dobbins Fagan. Cliff was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, Mars Hill College and Wake Forest College. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He was retired from Bordens, Inc. where he served more than 38 years in management. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood where he served on many committees and was Chairman of the Board of Deacons at several times. He was a member of the Greenwood Lions Club and volunteered with many organizations including, Lander University, the Greenwood Theatre, Greenwood Art Center and the Southeastern Theatre Association. Volunteering was one of Cliff’s greatest joys, proof by his recognition in 2016 as the Greenwood County Volunteer of the Year.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 66 years are two daughters, Lauren Fagan Borders (Charles Borders) of Lexington, SC and Ellen Fagan (Joan Pedersen) of Gaithersburg, MD; two grandsons Daniel James Hilyer and Christopher Joseph Williams of Lexington, SC. He was predeceased by a brother Hulon Fagan.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, November 13, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Greenwood with the Rev. Dr. Tony Hopkins officiating. A private burial will take place in Edgewood cemetery.

The family is at the home of his daughter, Lauren Borders and they will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Greenwood following the service.
