Lee Woodrow Thompson, Jr., 67, resident of NHC Greenwood, died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Columbia, SC, September 5, 1950, he was the son of the late Lee Woodrow, Sr. and Louise Yobs Thompson. He was a graduate of Lander University and earned his Masters Degree from University of South Carolina. He was employed as a counselor with Cornerstone Treatment Centers in Greenwood until his retirement.

Lee was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and the Emerald City Rotary Club. He truly loved the outdoors especially running marathons and hiking.

He is survived by a son, Lee W. Thompson, III and wife Cassandra of Arvada, CO; three sisters, Anita Parker and husband John of Columbia, Beth Collum of Columbia and Judy Beaver of Flat Rock, NC; two grandchildren, Rip Everlee Thompson and Violet Jase Thompson.

Memorial services will be conducted 11:00AM Friday, February 9 from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James McCoy-Bruce officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00AM until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of the Piedmont at 408 W. Alexander Ave. Greenwood, SC 29464.
