Mildred McAllister
Mildred Kathleen Timms McAllister, 87, resident of 116 Kaye Drive, wife of Samuel B. “Sam” McAllister, passed away August 12, 2017, at her home.
Born October 18, 1929, in Hodges, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Paul and Martha Hodges Timms. She was a graduate of Ware Shoals High School and was formerly employed in her early life as a secretary with Reigel Textiles in Ware Shoals.
A member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church she was the former choir director, a former Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Bethany Sunday School Class.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 57 years are a daughter, Kathy M. and husband Tim Maffett of Greenwood; and several special nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
She was predeceased by four sisters, Mary Sue Timms, Frances Long, Elizabeth Cooper and Martha Ezell; and three brothers, Woodrow Timms, Paul Timms and Melvin Timms.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:30 pm Monday at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Hugh Riley, Jerry Smith, Tom McKellar, G.W. Cade, Keith Cooper, Robert Bell and Mike Maffett.
Honorary escort will be members of the Men’s Bible Class and the Bethany Sunday School Class, both of the church along with Dale Kline.
The family is at the home on Kaye Drive and will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:30 to 4:30 Monday afternoon.
