Obituary for Robert Burrow Davis

Robert Davis Robert Burrow Davis, 83, resident of 122 Sheldon Avenue, husband of Jacqueline Patrick Davis, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Self Regional Healthcare. Born in Greenwood March 14, 1934, he was a son of the late Emmett Irwin Davis and Lelia Burrow Davis. Mr. Davis was educated in the Greenwood schools and was a 1957 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He served in the US Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was owner and president of D and H Associates. A member of the Sons of the American Revolution, he was also a member of the Lakeland Bee Association, American Legion Post #20, Carolinas Chapter of the Environmental Information Association, Golden K Kiwanis Club, Parks and Trails Foundation and his coffee club. Mr. Davis was a member of the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, the United Sunday School Class of the church and formerly served as a Deacon and Elder of the church. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his daughters and sons-in-law, Lelia Davis Maynard and husband Rich of Greenwood and Jacqueline Davis Myers and husband Bill of Columbia; his granddaughter, Julia Jacqueline Maynard and his grandson, Benjamin Richard Maynard; nephews Emmett Irwin Davis, III and wife Lynn Ann of Greenville and Stephen Looper Davis and wife Lori of Greenwood; a niece, Rebecca Davis Flack and husband Glenn of Greenwood. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Burrow Davis, Jr. and his brother, Emmett Irwin Davis, Jr. A Family burial service with Military Honors will be conducted at 2 PM Thursday at Oakbrook Memorial Park. Memorial services will be conducted at 3 PM Thursday, July 20, 2017 at First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Todd McCoy officiating. The family will receive friends in the church social hall following the service. Honorary escort will be Elders and Deacons of the church along with Garrett Herring and Paul Scarberry. In lieu of flowers memorials are to be made to First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 49054, Greenwood, SC 29649 or to the charity of one’s choice.
