Obituary for Sabra Moseley Nicholson


Sabra McDaniel Moseley Nicholson, 74, resident of Rutledge Road, wife of James E. Nicholson, died Friday, October 6, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN.

Born in Augusta, GA, July 31, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Rudolph McDaniel and Robbie and John Wise Gross. Sabra was a 1965 graduate of Converse College and continued her post-graduate education at Lander University. She taught in the Greenwood County School System for many years.

She was a long-standing member of the First Presbyterian Church, and played and active role in many historical societies including the National Society of Magna Carta Dames, the Jamestown Society, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and served as state president of the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century. Sabra was also an avid Bridge and Mahjong player.
She was twice married, first to the late Dr. Willie Bradford Moseley.

Surviving in addition to her husband of Columbia, TN are a daughter, Robbie M. Richards and husband John H. Richards, III of Sylvania, OH; twin sons, Dell Foster Moseley of Greenwood and John Nathan Moseley and wife Michele Burrous Moseley of Spartanburg; four grandchildren, Bradford McCarter Richards, Sara Anderson Moseley, Sabra Ellis Richards and Nathan Mengistu Moseley; one brother, Jim McDaniel of North Carolina.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Kyle Hite and Dr. Chuck Moates officiating.

Burial will be in the Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery in North Augusta.

Pallbearers will be Robert Cone, Edward Hicks, Dr. George Cone, Dr. Harold (Wickie) Wheeler
Kirk Alexander, Glenn McCaffrey and John Richards.

The family will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 Wednesday evening.
