ERNIEST HARRIS

Ernest Lamar Harris, 63, resident of 1411 Sweetwater Rd., died April 8, 2017 at his home.

Born in Clinton, October 27, 1953, he was a son of Ruby Frances Bailey Harris Hodges and the late Jerry Lamar Harris. Ernest lived most of his life in Ware Shoals and attended schools there. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict, having received a Purple Heart and retired from D.H. Griffin Co. where he did commercial demolition work. Ernest was an avid NASCAR fan.

Surviving in addition to his mother of Hodges are his twin brother and best friend, Charles Harris with whom he made his home; a daughter, Alexis Harvley of Ninety Six; three sisters, Patricia Bonner of Florida, Shirley Loftis and Ruby Ward, both of Hodges; brothers, Danny Ray Harris of Hodges, and Jerry Wayne Harris of Greenwood; three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3PM Tuesday in Oakbrook Memorial Park with Rev. Drew Gunter officiating.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave. Greenwood, SC 29646 or to Connie Maxwell Children's Home, PO Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648.
