Obituary

Lorene Hipp Hicks, 73, resident of Ridgewood Dr., wife of Russell "Russ" Cook died Friday February 10, 2017 at Hospice House in Greenwood.
Born December 19, 1943 in Spartanburg County to the late Paul A and Lucille Mason Hipp, she was a graduate of Chapman High School and Spartanburg Technical College. She retired as a program analyst from Fuji Film.
A member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Greenwood, where she was a lay speaker and disciple, she was also a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and a member of the church choir. Lorene was also a member of Celebration for Jesus, Ninety-Six Branch, and was a volunteer at the Hospice House in Greenwood for over 10 years.
She was twice married, first to the late Leonard Franklin Hicks.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are two sons, Paul (Faye) Hicks of Ware Shoals and Michael (Wendy) Hicks of Waterloo; a daughter Cindy (David) Young of Pelzer; a brother Wayne Hipp of Waterloo; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her pet dog "Sugar" who was so much a part of her life.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday February 16, 2017at 2 PM from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Thomas, Rev. Chuck Sprouse, and Rev. Bette Hedden officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Ted Hipp, Michael Paul O'Sullivan, Joey Hicks, Matthew Roach, Joshua Hicks, Jerry Barbare and Johnny Cole.
Honorary escort will be members of the Friendship Sunday School Class of the church.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends Wednesday February 15, 2017 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made in Lorene's name to Hospice Care of the Piedmont Hospice House 408 W. Alexander Ave. Greenwood, SC 29646.
