PATRICIA GURNEY

Patricia Derrick Gurney, 65, resident of 1201 Willard Road, wife of Ronald D. Gurney, died January 3, 2009 at her home.

Born in Clinton, SC, January 20, 1943, she was a daughter of Mary Dorothy Phillips Derrick and the late James L. Derrick. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be remembered by her family as a caring and gentle soul. She served as a faithful member of Coronaca Baptist Church and dedicated her life to the service of her church and family with undying love for both.

In addition to her husband, surviving family members are her mother of Greenwood and three sons, Nathan D. Gurney and Derek L. Gurney and wife Cheryl, all of Greenwood and Aaron J. Gurney and fiancee Tami Hartzog of Barnwell; three grandchildren, Kayla E. Hoxworth and husband Avery of Monks Corner, Justin W. Gurney and Lacey S. Gurney, both of Greenwood; a foster granddaughter, Samantha Gurney of Greenwood.

Mrs. Gurney was predeceased by a brother, James L. Derrick, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday at Coronaca Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Polatty, Rev. Drew Gunter and Rev. Wade Burton officiating.

The family is at the home on Willard Road and will receive friends at the Coronaca Baptist Church from 5:00 to 7:00 Tuesday evening.
