Thomas Stuart Plowden, 63, resident of 118 Glenridge Circle, husband of Kate Brown Plowden, died Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Hospice House after a courageous 17 – year battle with multiple myeloma.
Born in Greenwood March 17, 1953, he was a son of the late Mack Blake and Frances Whatley Plowden. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School, attended Clemson University and graduated from Lander University in 1975. Mr. Plowden was employed as a Wildlife Biologist for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources for 33 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Anna Plowden both of the home.
The family would like to thank Dr. Fritz Van Rhee and the staff at the UAMS Myeloma Institute, Dr. Joanna Sadurski and the staff at Self Regional Cancer Center and also Hospice House for the excellent and abiding care, compassion and respect provided to Stuart throughout his lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3M Thursday in Edgewood Cemetery with Mr. Reginald King and Mr. Frank Hill officiating.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 Thursday afternoon.
