Maude Mae Wilson Latham, 88, resident of 125 Hill and Dale Drive, wife of Gottlob Augustus "Gus" Latham, died April 7, 2012 at Hospice House.
Born in Greenwood County, April 12, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Henry W. and Emily Pearl Pettigrew Wilson. She was a 1960 graduate of Lander University and received her Master's Degree in Education from Clemson University. Mrs. Latham was retired from the Abbeville School District having taught first grade at Langley Millikan School.
A former member and Sunday school teacher at Abbeville First Baptist Church, Mrs. Latham was a member of First Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Greenwood. She was a loving teacher, avid gardener, faithful Christian and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are a daughter, Linda L. Dolny of Greenwood; three sons, Gus Latham and wife Peggy of Alma, GA, Jerry Latham and wife Alison of Abbeville and John Latham and wife Jan of Easley; five grandchildren, Dr. Candace Lauderdale and husband Sean, Brennan Latham, Jeffrey Latham, April Smith and husband Justin and Alicia Latham-Schwark and husband Andy; three great-grandchildren, Anisten Lauderdale, Connor Smith and Ashlyn Smith. She was predeceased by four brothers, Bill, Floyd, Woodrow and Charles Wilson and two sisters, Frances Stanley and Noreen Wilson.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 12:00 Noon from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Wiggins and Rev. Reiny Koschel officiating.
Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Billy Wilson, Roger Wilson, Charlie Wilson, Henry Jumper, Ted Hawthorne and Billy Stanley.
The family is at the home on Hill and Dale Drive and will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 to 12:00 Noon Monday.
